THE FIRM: HISTORY

Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle resulted from the alliance of two historical law firms: Bufete Pintó Ruiz (founded in 1903), cited in Barcelona and specialised in civil and corporate law and Del Valle Abogados (founded in 1910), cited in Madrid and specialised in industrial and intellectual property law. We are an independent and multidisciplinary firm which has been providing advice and representation to our clients in every legal sector for over 20 years, both nationally and internationally.

Our team is composed of more than 50 professionals who work in our offices in Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Majorca. Our main aim is to provide our clients with a high quality, agile, honest comprehensive service, and to constantly ensure their interests.

TIMELINE

1903

Bufete Pintó is founded

In 1903, José Pintó Badals founds Bufete Pintó, located in Barcelona's Paseo de Gràcia, a firm specialised in civil and corporate law and litigation

1910

Del Valle Abogados is founded

Juan Del Valle y Del Valle, lawyer and IP agent, founds Del Valle Abogados, the first firm in Spain specialised in IP, gaining thus a great recognition in this area

1949

José Juan Pintó Ruiz starts leading Bufeté Pintó, which from then on named Bufete Pintó Ruiz

1961

Javier del Valle joins Del Valle Abogados

1963

Javier del Valle is appointed as President of the Spanish Group of the AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property)

1967

José Juan Pintó Ruiz is appointed as numerary member of the Acadèmia de Jurisprudència i Legislació de Catalunya [Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia]

1988

Bufete Pintó Ruiz, along with 4 other European firms from Belgium, France, Italy and United Kingdom, founds PLG INTERNATIONAL LAWYERS (originally named Pannone Law Group), the first European interest grouping of multidisciplinary law firms created as EIG in Europe

PLG INTERNATIONAL LAWYERS is currently a worldwide association which is made up of 29 law firms and has offices in over 50 cities of 33 different countries in 4 continents

1989

Javier del Valle founds ANDEMA (Spanish Association for Trademark Defence)

1991

José Juan Pintó is elected to the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras [Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences]

1999

José Juan Pintó is elected to the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación [Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation]

1999

Bufete Pintó Ruiz and Del Valle Abogados set up PINTÓ RUIZ & DEL VALLE

2004

Majorcan law firm Clar & Galmés Abogados joins PINTÓ RUIZ & DEL VALLE

2006

PINTÓ RUIZ & DEL VALLE joins the French-Spanish Chamber of Commerce

2010

PINTÓ RUIZ & DEL VALLE joins the International Network of Boutique and Independent Law Firms (INBLF)

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appoints José Juan Pintó Sala as arbitrator for the Vancouver Olympic Games and becomes the first Spanish lawyer in history to be appointed as such

2011

José Juan Pintó Ruiz is awarded the 3rd Puig Salellas Award by the Colegio Notarial de Cataluña [College of Notaries of Catalonia]

2014

José Juan Pintó Sala is awarded the medal for sports merit by the Consejo Superior de Deportes [Spanish Sports Council]

2015

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appoints José Juan Pintó Sala as arbitrator for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games

Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle as such has been present in the legal market for over 20 years, even though its activities started much before, when two centennial firms allied.
